Greathouse Y-DNA Project
Welcome to Greathouse Point's official Y-DNA project which was started on May 10, 2005. We are currently using Family Tree DNA for our project's Y-DNA testing. Family Tree DNA's company Website provides basic genetic genealogy tutorials that explain what you can learn from Y-DNA testing.
Who is eligible to participate in our Y-DNA Project?
To take the Y-DNA test, you need to be a male with the
GREATHOUSE surname. If you are a male Greathouse your Y-DNA test results,
and those of your
father, your brother, and all your male Greathouse cousins and uncles
will be identical, except for rare mutations. This is also true for
all your paternal male Greathouse ancestors, and all their male descendants.
If you are a female GREATHOUSE descendant, encourage your father or
brother to take the test if your maiden name is Greathouse, otherwise
your male Greathouse cousins and uncles will work.
